FINAL BLOG Y'ALL

Through this semester in practicum I have learned a lot. I jointed interlachen in the beginning of the year and met a lot of really nice and creative people. I have learned how to use our Cannon cameras to take photos and videos. I have learned how to change the settings for different lightings, and how to use manual and auto focus and when is the right time for both. I have learned to use InDesign and Illustrator. I can now recreate almost anything in indesign. Everything is so easy when you know how to use the pen tool. I have also learned how to place photos into the layouts for the yearbook. Our theme for the yearbook this year is scrap booking. Bob’s wife has been coming in and working with us for brainstorming and actually making our layouts in InDesign. I am going to be starting to work on editing video more with our video editor, since I am fluent in final cut pro. I have become a lot more comfortable with using SLR cameras. Through taking photos and video with them at different events, I know how to use all the different settings. I have learned how to work with people and keep my comment to my self. I have also learned how to get my comments across without seeming so rude. I would really like to have editors positions in the future, through working in interlachen I’ve decided that I want to be the person who makes the final decisions. I really feel as though I am a part of the interlachen family. Shannah and Dion are awesome and so helpful. They have made everything so easy for me to become involved. They make me want to come to the Monday morning meetings especially if Shannah brings food. It is really helpful to know I always have people to go to if I need help on anything I am working on. I have really noticed how no one knows what interlachen is. I walk around with my camera and when people ask I tell them I am taking photos for interlachen and they ask what that is and I tell them the year book, and they always respond with “oh I didn’t know we had a year book” I really think interlachen needs to be more public and to make people aware that it exist. Another thing I have learned is that no one watches the news show or Go healthy fsc. Or the sports show. We have a campus channel that is still showing stuff from last year. This is just sad; we need to get this channel back in use! Overall I am very happy with joining interlachen and will continue to be a contributing member!

  1. Ugh, the campus channel is a struggle. Hopefully with everything streamlined, we can get more cross-promotion going on. Glad you got involved with Interlachen. I'm also glad you learned a little about yourself. College isn't just about taking classes, but learning how to deal with people effectively. Hopefully you'll get an editor's position soon.

  2. BTW, next semester, try to include more information in your blogs. Tell me what insights you gained (if any) and any problems that occurred. Or some zany thing that happened.
